FUNDRAISING AIM

One of the aims of Tour de Samosir is to raise money to fund independent educational projects in the region.

• The Try Out Samosir programme: this is a programme which was conceived a few years ago by a group of university students who are currently studying in some of the most reputable Indonesian universities all over the country. Most of these students are from Samosir Island and the surrounding area. Having successfully passed the university entrance examinations they are now willing to help high school pupils who are preparing to follow in their footsteps. They arrange practice exams to give applicants a better chance to pass the real examinations. These students are very enthusiastic and ambitious but they need a little bit of money to fund their activities.

• The Library Projects:  Project Tapanuli aims to promote education in Tapanuli region. We believe that providing small libraries or supporting any current libraries within local schools would help enrich education within the schools. Currently we are carrying out a pilot project in a small school in Dairi Region.  We hope to be able to provide additional books for the school so that children from very poor background will not have to buy so many books.
